A polymer lithium ion battery delivers and maintains a stable operating voltage of over 3.7V until final discharge-three times as much voltage as a Ni-Cd or Ni-MH battery provides. It takes just 1/3 the number of polymer lithium ion batteries to provide the equivalent amount of voltage from Ni-Cd or Ni-MH batteries, so portable devices can be made much smaller and lighter.
